I really, really don’t have time for this post.
But how can I let something like the fourth anniversary of my sobriety get by without at least attempting some sort of 200-word cast off newsletter? Definitely want to get my stats out there into your inbox, otherwise it doesn’t count.
Sort of reminds me of that old Zen koan:
If a drunk gets sober but doesn’t tell anybody about it, is it really sobriety?
Okay, I just made that up. (Not really a Zen koan.) But check this out:
If my sobriety were a young person in their early 20s—and if they had selected a major as a freshman and stuck with it (and didn’t drop too many courses)—they would have a Bachelor’s degree.
My sobriety has saved me over $30,000 USD.
My sobriety has helped me maintain and even deepen relationships with people I love and care about.
My sobriety has led me to finish two marathons, one of which was a PR.
My sobriety has allowed me to attain my goal of becoming a full professor.
My sobriety has kept over 2 million calories off my gut.
And…a whole bunch of other stuff.
If you want to read my much more developed and interesting post from last year about my third year of sobriety, check it out…
To celebrate, I am going to head to Miami Beach this weekend for some much-needed R&R. Pics to follow.
